Bernard studied music under Robert Plowright and Joseph Wardle and became a licentiate of Trinity College of Music and also the Royal Academy of Music. He Moved to Wiltshire in the late 1950s. Having been head of music at Kingdown School, founded and ran "Kingdown Music" a fee paying music tuition scheme. From 1971-73 he was at Bristol University studying the role of aesthetics in education (M.Ed) and went to Newton Park College to teach prospective teachers how to survive under classroom conditions. A regular broadcaster for WCR since its inception in 1996 he continues to promote appreciation of music and the arts in general. He has lectured for the WEA since 1961 mainly in music and continues to be passionate about the value of the arts in adult education. |
