John was bitten by the bug of radio presenting two years ago and reckons he ought to move a bed into the WCR studios because there’s always something to do there! He was born in Southampton a long time ago and spent his childhood years on the edge of the New Forest in Hythe before moving to Warminster some 35 years ago – almost a local then! He is a Scientist in the Defence Industry and is fascinated by all things technological; aircraft, boats, cars and electronic gadgets to name but a few. He also enjoys gardening, visits to the coast, and the odd bit of DIY. Music is his main passion as he is an acoustic and electric guitarist but is still learning with 40 year old ‘L’ plates! He also enjoys his activities as Secretary of the United Church in Warminster and as a Governor of a Primary School.
Friday Night Capers is a two hour programme of great Friday night music that is just right for the end of the week or the start of the weekend (take your pick!) coupled with a classic humour feature and a featured album, artist or music genre. The music motto is "anything goes – provided it’s good and I like it!" and will range from classical to rock and everything in between, the best of the current music scene and whatever else he can find of interest.
"Take a Pew" is an hour in which religious, inter-faith, ethical and other world issues will be discussed with a studio guest each week. The emphasis of the programme will be on the positive things that are being done locally and in the wider world to make a difference by taking action. The music choices will be vibrant but also spiritual and reflective embracing all genres; classical, pop, rock, folk, blues, gospel, traditional and modern religious music, and Celtic influences.
